We Run Uptown

Embodying the energy of Uptown NYC, the We Run Uptown crew own the streets north of Central Park, connecting and uplifting the community with every step.

We Run Uptown’s story starts with Hector Espinal, one of the two founders. Hector promoted his journey of self-improvement by running the George Washington Bridge every Monday, and uploading pictures online with the hashtag #WeRunUptown. He made it his mission to bring health, fitness, and positivity to the streets of Uptown.

As time went on, people took notice and started joining. Through a mutual connection, co-founder Josh came onboard to make Uptown healthier one stride at a time.

One year later, three of their crew took part in the TCS New York City Marathon. By 2015, they had six runners competing in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and the TCS New York City Marathon.

“Both WRU & DFNS have one thing in common. The future. While we at WRU continue to inspire the runners of tomorrow and build towards leaving a legacy, DFNS is making sure all our gear is kept clean while making sure our planet stays clean too.”

― WRU Crew

We Run Uptown are creating a legacy that celebrates the vibrancy of Uptown people and culture, adding a unique NY twist to their running calendar. Whether it’s a tie-dye t-shirt event, a post-run cookout, or teaming up with a local brewery, they keep it fresh and fun. No matter the weather, there are always miles to be run, and always a group ready to run them.

We’re excited to partner with such an inspiring crew, and to bring sustainable care to the streets of New York.
